In NYC a lot of the stops have late night boarding areas – some of which have cameras – but they don’t specifically say they are for women.

DC’s metro does the scan in AND out thing, i keep putting away my card and then having to get it back out again.

Your point about globalization (understood as the west moving outward) is well taken. I’ve often thought it peculiar that the first move to think about globalization is to categorize very clearly the “us” and “them” and THEN to analyze the relationship smarter thinkers than I (cf. Archeology of Knowledge) have suggested that structures by which we structure our discourses determined the ways by which we can speak about them. But you know this already.

But what about how strange it is that the consequence of global thought is not a better understanding of multiculturalism, but rather a tribally rooted discourse about our tribe vs. their tribe.
